Now that many people work permanently from home, it is extremely important to keep your colleagues and especially your manager informed about your personal performance. But also especially about great new initiatives that you have come up with and achieved small or large successes. At the office, this was of course already extremely important for your personal brand and image. But now since the contact moments during meetings, coffee breaks, lunches and drinks hardly exist anymore, this is becoming indispensable. Find out why and how you can easily strengthen your image in times of working from home.
Strengthen your personal brand
The more you talk to colleagues and supervisors about your great achievements, the more they will start to think positively about you. And they will start talking about your successes with other people. If you don’t play this game smart and often enough, nobody really knows what you do as an individual in the organization. Nobody knows what your added value is anymore. It is then much more difficult to create and maintain a strong personal image and strong personal brand.
You should always let people know:
- Who you are.
- What you do for the company.
- What your results are.
The power of window dressing
You must learn to become a professional “window dresser”. Of course you always have to do your best and achieve good results. It should absolutely not be fake what you proclaim. But you have to keep “bragging” and talking often about your achievements. Do not be so modest! For example: Explain why you took certain actions, as this is better for the customer. Or because your manager’s team will achieve its targets faster through your actions. Make sure nothing goes unnoticed of what you are doing. And are you successful? Then make sure the whole company knows about it! In any case, let all the key figures know who really matter and who can help advance your career further. Leave nothing to chance!
Compete with colleagues and get results
Try to apply it subtly yourself and increase the intensity step by step. You will gain more recognition and it helps you to become more visible in your company. Especially and in relation to other colleagues. Note that colleagues are generally always your main internal competitors. Especially in times of crisis and layoffs! Enrich your good results and commitment at work with a few subtle window dressing skills. People will start to respect you more, talk about you more, know who you are and what you do. And eventually people will think more positively about you and be convinced. They know what your added value is for the company. Thanks to your new bold style, your overall image at work will greatly improve.
